Fernando M. Leal, 67, of Odessa, Texas passed from this life Thursday, May 11, 2023. He was born January 29, 1956, in Coolidge, Arizona to Santos P. Leal and Catarina Molina Leal.

Fernando lived most of his life in west Texas and was a longtime welder within the oil industry. He had most recently been employed with Renegade Oil Services in Odessa. He loved to work and would weld even in his time off because he enjoyed it so much. He also enjoyed listening to old country music. Fernando was a loving father and grandfather, and a special friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Santos Leal and wife, Rebecca; daughter, Misty M. Meikle and husband, Reynaldo; step-son, Orlando Gutierrez and wife, Belsa; step-daughter, Victoria Gutierrez; grandchildren, Santos Fernando Leal, Trinity Mkayla Leal, Makenzie Jade Leal, Talia Paige Leal, Payton Alford, Ivan Chavez, Marcus Chavez, T'Eryka Young, Ja'Enjoli Young, Orlando Gutierrez, and Joey Gutierrez; brothers, Thomas Leal, Rudy Leal, and Melesio Leal; sisters, Antonia Villa, Anabelle Ponce, and Alice Leal; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family. Fernando was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Santos Leal; and sisters, Lupe Leal and Mary Dominga Leal.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with graveside services following in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Santos Fernando Leal, Ian Leal, Orlando Gutierrez, Joey Gutierrez, Chris Solis, and Jose Luz Fregoso Guevarra.
