Obituary

Frances Merlynn Flynn Barnard, 81, of Comanche, went to be with Jesus Friday, July 17, 2020, at her home. She was born September 16, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas to Elgate and Effie Hitch.


Frances married Doyle Graves Flynn on June 12, 1958 and they had five children together. Doyle passed away on March 28, 1976 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Frances married William Gene Barnard on August 10, 1979. They lived in Fort Worth until 2003 when they moved to Comanche, Texas.


Frances was well educated and enjoyed learning as much as she could. She loved all animals and would never turn one away. She was always willing to give them a good home. Frances loved to spend time on genealogy and subsequently told the best family stories. While telling stories, her famous words will always be remembered, "You need to write this down."


She is survived by her children, Stehlin (Jaide) Flynn, Shari Flynn, Shareese (Tommy) Cleere, Shawn (Marnie) Flynn, Melody (Brian) Fisher, and William Gene Barnard Jr.; husband, William Gene Barnard;  brother, Dan (Rosanne) Hitch, 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.


Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Elgate and Effie Hitch; first husband, Doyle Flynn; and infant daughter, Susan Kaye Flynn.


Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in Ebenezer Cemetery with Brother Kenneth Wilson officiating. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the De Leon Food Pantry, Comanche All Pets Alive (CAPA), or to the Foster's Home for Children Stephenville, in memory of Frances.
