Obituary

Frances Jean Barnes, 78, of De Leon, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018, at her home. She was born January 26, 1940, in Paducah, Texas to Julius Eugene Plaunty and Mary Adele Murray Plaunty. Frances married Robert Malaer.

Frances Barnes was in love with Robert Malaer for many years. She was a pillar of the De Leon community for over fifty years. Frances worked in various positions throughout her life from waitressing and running restaurants, to housekeeping for the De Leon Hospital. She also enjoyed many hobbies including arts and crafts, shopping yard sales, and collecting coffee mugs. She enjoyed traveling the world with the love of her life. She was incredibly gifted at crocheting - one of her greatest passions. She loved to create afghans and knick knacks for everyone in her family to enjoy. Her greatest joy in life was her family; they meant everything to her. She was a loving mother, wonderful grandmother, and doting great-grandmother. Frances was loved very much. She touched everyone she came across and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Roy Eugene Van Winkle and Randy Barnes and wife, Debbie; daughters, Mary Adele Loggins and Marlo Ann Kelly and husband, Robert; daughter-in-law, Lana Barnes; grandchildren, Andrea Harmon, Falon Van Winkle, Kelci Murphy, Ryan Pitts, Dwayne Green and Brittany Barnes; great-grandchildren, Trinity Medford, Cameron Nguyen, Harper Nguyen, Korbin Pitts, Kaiden Pitts, Skylar Alexander, Peyton Kelly, Zoey Murphy, Michael Murphy, Caleb Murphy, Landon Green, KD Green, Shayden Jones, Michael Featherstone and Eden Featherstone.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Malaer; son, Raymond Barnes; grandchild, Rose Kelly; parents, Julius and Mary Adele Plaunty; and brother, Dale Plaunty.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Frances were held Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home.
