Frances Jean Richmon Powell left this earthly life behind and upgraded her residence into Jesus’ neighborhood on July 27, 2026, at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 10 days. Frances was being cared for at home when she passed peacefully into eternal rest from this life’s pain and toils.

While we are saddened to be temporarily separated from her, we rejoice in knowing she was saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and that we will see her again some day in Heaven.

Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Born at home on August 17, 1932, in Long Cove, Texas, Frances lived a life defined by love, kindness, hard work, and dedication to church, family, and helping others, and for decades was a steadfast member of the Church of Christ congregation on Hwy 6 in De Leon. Throughout the years, she touched countless lives with a generous heart, unwavering strength, and a warm smile that will be remembered by all who knew her.

Frances was a devoted spouse, parent, grandparent, and sister in Christ who treasured time spent with loved ones. Whether celebrating family milestones, offering words of encouragement, or simply sharing everyday moments, she made those around her feel valued and loved.

In early life Frances and her Irish twin brother LW grew up together becoming close buds through thick and thin, and most likely getting into the occasional mischief if truth were to be known. Once their younger sisters Reta, Geneva, and Nancy arrived on scene, Frances also helped in caring for them.

She attended school in Long Cove and Lometa until the family moved to De Leon, where she graduated from De Leon High School. Upon graduation Frances spent a short time engaged as a nanny, caring for children of a family in Ft. Worth in exchange for room & board in their home, while she secured a Business College degree in Bookkeeping.

After moving to De Leon Frances met the love of her life Woodie Powell, and they married in the Richmon family home at Shady Oaks Farm on February 17, 1950. Together they built a life of dedication to each other, managed to raise up three rowdy boys, and celebrated many blessings and fun times while also tackling challenges and difficulties side by side in all kinds of weather.

Frances applied her bookkeeping degree and associated trade skills in her works outside the home at the De Leon Peanut Mill (where the man who hired her was very intrigued and impressed with the shorthand she learned in business college), at Golden Oak Milling, and at Clark Tractor Supply from which she retired in 1995 after 25 years of dedicated service, having received numerous awards and recognitions for excellence in her work.

Outside of work Frances enjoyed family gatherings, a heartily competitive game of dominoes or cards, entertaining and helping to raise grandchildren, camping and fishing with Woodie and LW and Dolly, gardening, volunteering her time and cooking skills for church family, quilting, and various other family activities. These passions reflected her appreciation and love for family and for life's simple pleasures.

Frances is lovingly survived by son Roy Powell and wife Brenda, son Ronald Powell and wife Denise, sister Reta Hood, sister Geneva Weaver, sister Nancy Johnson and husband Jack, grandson Bobby Powell and wife Tabatha, grandson Randy Powell and wife Chelsea, granddaughter Kristen Martin and husband Ryan, grandson Kolby Powell and wife Shawndra, ten great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and extended step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren in Oregon and Idaho. Frances was preceded in death by parents Millard and Lora Richmon, brother LW Richmon and wife Dolly, husband Woodie Powell, and son Garry Powell and wife Paula.

Though Frances is no longer with us, the love she shared and the example she set will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, July 30th, and the funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home. Interment will follow in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Roy Powell, Ronald Powell, Bobby Powell, Terry Richmon, Greg Woodcox and Rickey Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Kolby Powell, Ryan Martin, and Ray Chupp.
