Francis "Frank" Albert Plaunty, 73, of De Leon, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015, at his home.
He was born July 13, 1941, in Cripple Creek, CO, to Orville Benson Plaunty and Frances Alberta Meyer Plaunty. Frank married Helen May Stone July 23, 1961.
Frank and Helen moved to the De Leon area in 2000. He retired in 1980 from the United States Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer after twenty-two years of dedicated service to our country. Later, Frank also retired from South California Edison Power Plant as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Armstrong Masonic Lodge #445. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. He loved working cattle on his ranch and working on farm equipment. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen May Stone Plaunty; son, William Plaunty and wife, Baylor, daughter, Caroline Pettigrew; grandsons, Michael Pettigrew and Matthew Pettigrew; granddaughter, Ella Plaunty; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Frank was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Leroy Plaunty; parents, Orville and Frances Plaunty; brother, Jack Plaunty; and sister, Ella May Ellis.
Graveside funeral services, with Military Honors and Masonic Rites, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015, in Oliver Springs Cemetery with Brother Jimmy Holleman officiating.
