Frank Porter Shirley born March 18, 1925, to Frank Hubert Shirley and Dicey Smith Shirley in Honey Grove, Texas, went home to his Lord and Savior April 14, 2017.
Frank married Melda Beth Crenshaw October 20, 1951. He and Beth lived in Gorman for many years. Frank was a retired minister. He was called to the ministry in his mid-thirties and faithfully served his Lord through church ministry until his retirement from Bible Church in Onalaska, Texas. He loved to work and spent most all of his time doing just that. In his little spare time, Frank enjoyed reading and studying the Bible and fishing. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, neighbor and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Frank is survived by his sons, Gary Shirley and wife, Shirley, of Desdemona, Stephen Shirley of Lake Charles, Louisiana, David Shirley of Tyler, and Tim Shirley and wife, Barbara, of Pittsburg; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
He was preceded by his wife, Beth Shirley; parents, Frank and Dicey Shirley; sisters, Francis Hardie, Ella Matthews, and Sue Young; and brothers, Hilly Leon Shirley and Joe Bob Shirley.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 17, 2017, at 1:30 p.m .at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother David Locke officiating. Frank was laid to rest beside his wife, Beth, in Howard Cemetery.
