Obituary

Freddie Ralph Bookout celebrated his 86th birthday and heavenly homecoming on August 25th, 2023.

The middle of three boys, Fred was born in 1937 in Seymour, Texas. All stories of his youth point to a rambunctious child whose mother once tied him to the clothesline to keep him from running off. As he grew, he developed a deep love for horses and roping and loved living the life of a cowboy. Fred worked in the oil fields, owned a welding shop with his brother, and pursued his passion for flying in a later-in-life second career as a pilot.

Fred loved taking care of his family and was a friend to so many. If he wasn't on the golf course, you could find him riding motorcycles, shooting skeet, hunting and fishing, or pulling his camper to cooler weather.

Fred married the love of his life, Darlene, on September 30th, 1968. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year. What a life they lived together! Travels and adventures, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Fred and Darlene were soulmates and best friends.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Kathleen Bookout; brother Eddie Bookout and wife Charleen; brother Wayne Bookout; nephew, Jeff Bookout; niece, Toni Kay Ghaemi; and grand-nephew, Brent Sellman.

Fred is survived by his wife, Darlene; sister-in-law, Delores Bookout; son, Jim Elliott and his wife, Connie; daughter, Kim Allen; daughter, Joy Elliott; niece Kim Sellman, her husband, Bill, and their son, Tad; grandchildren, Monek', Brendon, Christina, James, Kelvin, Sam, Jessica, Kori, and Taylor; fifteen great-grandchildren; and countless friends and extended family.

At the request of the family, there will be no public services.
