Freddie
Sadberry
Apr 7, 1940 — Jun 28, 2024
Laverda "Freddie" Sadberry, 84, came into the world on April 7, 1940. She was one of seven children born to Hubert Rainey and Anne Hughes Rainey.
Freddie was raised in Desdemona and graduated from Desdemona High School in 1958. She was an excellent basketball player and that is where she met the love of her life, Curtis Sadberry. They went on to get married on April 18, 1958, and built their family, adding three beautiful children. Freddie loved being a mother, not only to her children, but to many others.
She owned and operated Freddie's Short Stop and BBQ for many years. She also loved and influenced many children while teaching at Wee Care Christian Preschool. Later in her life, she enjoyed running with her Golden Girls, her home, and loved sitting on her front porch.
Freddie left this world in the early morning hours of June 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She is now peacefully resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior and is eternally reunited with the love of her life, Curtis, and her sweet granddaughter, Shenna.
She leaves behind a loving legacy in her large family: son, Alan Sadberry (Regenia); daughters, Carla Mathews (Jerry) and Rhonda Pruitt; grandchildren, Braxton Sadberry, Auston Sadberry (Samantha), Terra Mathews, Josh Mathews (Whitney), MaKenzie Mathews, and Raesha Chupp (Cory); great-grandchildren, Stetson Sadberry, Tecovas Sadberry, Dawson Mathews, Maci Mathews (fiancé, Cash Bowen), Collin Mathews, Connor Mathews, Karsyn Mathews, Payton Chupp, and Keyton Chupp; soon to arrive great-great-grandson, Walker Bowen; sister, Anne Hinkle; brother-in-law, J.W. Sadberry; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Coan and Carol Rainey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her. Freddie was preceded in death by husband, Curtis Sadberry; granddaughter, Shenna Chupp; parents, Hubert Rainey and Anne Hughes Rainey; brothers, Kenneth Rainey and Tom Rainey; and sisters, Ruth Coutorie, Nelda Keith and Bessie Shupp.
Funeral services celebrating Freddie's life were held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother Malcolm Johnson and son Alan Sadberry officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Braxton Sadberry, Auston Sadberry, Josh Mathews, Collin Mathews, Cory Chupp, and Dawson Mathews.
