Galyna Karen
Callison Holland
Aug 2, 1946 — Nov 9, 2023
Galyna Karen (Callison) Holland, 77, of De Leon, peacefully passed from this life Thursday, November 9, 2023, in Brownwood. Galyna was born August 2, 1946, in Gorman, Texas to Thomas James (Jim) Callison and Treva Vineyard Callison.
Galyna was raised in De Leon and graduated with the De Leon Class of 1964. She then attended Tarleton State University but soon married the love of her life, Clifford Joe Holland, September 11, 1965, and faithfully loved her family as a devoted homemaker for the remainder of her life. Galyna spent her entire life living in De Leon other than the two years she and Clifford spent in Alaska as he was deployed with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Galyna enjoyed many hobbies including writing poetry, crafting, and floral design. She was a talented artist and loved all flowers, especially sunflowers. She loved to spend time outdoors among nature and had a special love for birds. Galyna was a special and rare friend. She faithfully and sincerely put others before herself. She was faithful to call and check on her friends, send cards of encouragement and sympathy, and would always do for others without hesitation. Even during her recent health decline, Galyna was sure to check on the wellbeing of others and wanted no fuss about her own ailments. She was a devoted Christian and loved and trusted in her Lord.
Galyna's family was her greatest joy in life. Her children and grandchildren brought her immense happiness and she would show up to support each of their endeavors every time she was able. She was a loving mother and mother-in-law, doting grandmother, special sister and sister-in-law, loving aunt, and a loyal friend to so many. She will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves a loving legacy to cherish her memories. She is survived by her daughters, Kayla McCoy and husband, Shane, Shanna Lewis and husband, Gerald, and Kristin Matteson and husband, Heath; grandchildren, Katlyn McCoy, Karena McCoy, Madilyn Lewis, Anyssa Lewis, Colton Matteson and Cayson Matteson; great-granddaughter, Addelyn May; brother, Lannes Callison and wife, Beth; brothers-in-law, Sammy Holland and wife, Susan, and Danny Holland; sister-in-law, Jane Holland; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She has been reunited with her husband, Clifford; and parents, Jim and Treva Callison.
