George Vera, 76, passed peacefully from this life May 1, 2026. He was born January 1, 1950, in Medina, Texas to Isaac Vera and Madelia Riel Vera. George married Amelia Nunez on June 15, 1972, in Eastland, Texas.

George was raised in Desdemona and graduated from Desdemona High School. He lived all his adult life in De Leon where he owned and operated numerous businesses. Most notably was GV Mobile Home Transport, a business with a wonderful reputation of over forty years. His hobby in life was working and he did so up until his health no longer allowed. He enjoyed cooking and considered himself a food connoisseur. He enjoyed farming and had a green thumb that produced the best fresh produce including tomatoes and watermelons. George loved to watch westerns, spoil his pets, and spend time with his family. He believed that life is short, and it goes fast. He tried to provide a good living for his family and make lots of wonderful memories along the way.

George is survived by his devoted wife, Amelia; sons, Randy Martinez and wife, Peggy; and Corey Vera; daughters, Andrea Hardin and husband, Rodney, Peggy Vera, and Octavia Knapp; grandchildren, Cierra Vera, Joey Hardin, Jordan Hardin, Allison Ferris, and Taylor Reeves; great grandchildren, Will Hardin, Andrew Hardin, Noah Farris and Arthur Farris; brother, Ricky Vera and wife, Sherry; sister, Linda Rodriquez; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

He has been reunited with his parents and nine siblings.

Funeral services celebrating George’s life will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother Denver Rainey officiating.
