Gerald L. Newcomb, 65, of De Leon and formerly of Crane and Odessa, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017, in Ft. Worth with his family by his side.

He was born July 6, 1951, in Crane to Orville and Mary Virginia Rymer Newcomb.

Gerald was a long time member of First Christian Church in Crane, Texas. He was employed as a warehouse worker for many years for El Paso Products. Gerald enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed canning and making jelly. Gerald loved his family and was always his happiest while spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his mother, Virginia Newcomb; brother, William Ira Newcomb; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family. Gerald was preceded by his father, Orville Newcomb; and sister, Judy Gaye Carnes.

Graveside funeral services were held Friday, May 5, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near May, Texas, with Brother Daniel Burlison officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church at 201 E. Reynosa, De Leon, in memory of Gerald.
