Obituary

Gerald (Shorty) Warren, 91, of Rucker, went home to his Lord and Savior Sunday, May 3, 2020, with his loving wife by his side. He was born November 9, 1928, in Suez, Texas to Marion (Pet) Martin Warren and Pearl Nelson Warren. Shorty married his devoted and loving wife, Delia Bernice Mull, March 14, 1958, in Dallas, Texas.

Shorty grew up in Comanche County and proudly served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class Aviation Radio Man. He was stationed in California, Florida, Texas and Tennessee during and following WWII. He was a self-employed dozer operator for many years. Shorty and Bernice were long time members of Northside Baptist Church and also attended St. Joe Baptist Church. Shorty enjoyed genealogy and working on his home place. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Shorty is survived by his wife, Bernice Warren; daughter, Glenda (Warren) Waggoner; son, Robert Dale Warren; sister, Christell (Warren) Weber; honorary daughter, Leta Mull; numerous cousins; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Pearl Warren; brother, Marion Martin Warren, Jr.; step-son, Billy Gerald Sturdivant; and step-grandson, Jeremy Shane Sturdivant.

Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Hill Cemetery with Brother Lanny Spruill and Brother Alan Sadberry officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Welch, Kenneth Welch, Ray Warren, Jackie Warren, Wayland Mull, Roger Winkles and Randell Mull. Condolences may be offered online at www.nowlinandersfh.com.

*Due to the current COVID-19 regulations on group gatherings, we kindly ask that any friends planning to attend Shorty's graveside service respectfully stand at least 30 feet from the tent. Also, please do not gather in groups larger than 10 people (at the advised 6 foot distance). The tent seating will be reserved for immediate family only. We are saddened that we cannot currently allow friends to pay their respects to the Warren family with a traditional visitation and ceremony. The family appreciates your understanding of the graveside safety regulations and is thankful for your continued prayers and kind thoughts during this difficult time.
