Gilbert Garcia, 57, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior Friday, April 17, 2015, with his family at his side.

He was born December 20, 1957, in Lubbock, Texas, to Domingo Garcia, Sr., and Maria Garcia. Gilbert married Mary J. Moreno March 11, 2005, in Murfreesboro, TN.

Gilbert was employed as a store manager for the grocery industry for many years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and working on his yard. He would spend as much time as possible outdoors when he was able. He served as a volunteer firefighter for many years. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Gilbert had such a strong faith in the Lord and his trust in God's plan never wavered. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed beyond measure.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Garcia; son, Isacc Garcia; daughters, Nellie Villarreal and husband, Rudy, Candy Garza and husband, Rene, Jasmine Saldivar and Alexis Garcia; mother, Maria Garcia; brothers, Joe Garcia, Ricky Garcia and wife, Barbara, and Johnny Garcia and wife, Melissa; sisters, Daisy Cooper and husband, James, Sylvia Alvarez and husband, Cowboy; grandchildren, Aaron Villarreal, Rudy Villarreal, Jr., Adam Villarreal, Isaiah Villerreal, Allysa Villarreal, Tatum Banda, Bailey Banda, Chloe Banda, Joey Garcia, Kymara Garza, Nyaomi Garza and Nathan Garza; numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family; and many friends.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his son, Johnathan "Willo" Garcia, father, Domingo Garcia; brothers, Hogan Garcia and Domingo Garcia, Jr.; and sister, Adela Garcia.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 19, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Pastor Marty Reid officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery.
