Gladys Wayne Forrest Pounds, 92, of De Leon went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, April 27, 2018. She was born February 16, 1926, in Robinson Springs, Comanche County to Alva Guy Forrest and Isabel Woodfin Forrest. Gladys married Jerald Dean Pounds May 25, 1946 in the Rock Bluff Community.
Gladys lived her entire life in Comanche County and graduated from Duster High School as her class Salutatorian. She was a member of Rock Bluff Baptist Church and was saved there in 1939. She loved teaching Sunday School at Duster Baptist Church and Rock Bluff Baptist Church. Gladys was a dedicated prayer warrior for her family and many friends and was faithful in her Bible study. She was a devoted and loving homemaker for her family. Gladys had many hobbies including sewing, shopping, cooking and baking. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life and she enjoyed watching their sporting activities and stock shows. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Roger Pounds and wife, Vickie; daughter, Karen Mahan and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Mike Mahan and wife, Kristi, Jennifer Pounds, Craig Mahan and wife, Shana, Chris Pounds and wife, Christina, and Cody Mahan and wife, Amy; great-grandchildren, Mattie, Alyssa, Taylor, Mayson, Adrian, Tate, Jackson, Jake and Jarrett; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Boswell and husband, Marvin; brother-in-law, Dean Nowlin; numerous nieces, nephews; and other extended family.
Gladys was preceded by her husband, Dean Pounds; parents, Alva Guy and Isabel Forrest; great-granddaughter, Katie McMeens; brothers, Charlie, Robert, Willie and Doyle Gene; and sisters, Arlie and Marie.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Terrell Jackson and Brother Jim Farley officiating. Gladys was laid to rest beside her husband, Dean, in De Leon Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Rock Bluff Baptist Church or the church or charity of your choice, in memory of Gladys.
