Sparger
d. Dec 3, 2023
Glenn Dale Sparger, 73, of De Leon, passed peacefully from this life at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 3, 2023. He was born December 1, 1950, in Grapevine, Texas to Cletis and Sarah English Sparger. Glenn married his loving wife of fifty-one years, Cheryl Hudson, on March 10, 1972.
Glenn was raised in Southlake Carroll and graduated from Southlake Carroll High School in 1969. He then attended Texas A&M University with plans to become a veterinarian. God had other plans for Glenn and led him into a loving marriage to Cheryl and they began building their family. Glenn enjoyed many hobbies in his younger years including bull riding and rodeoing. Glenn and Cheryl moved their family to De Leon in 1988 and here he provided for his family by farming and ranching. He loved caring for his cattle, goats, and registered Yorkshire hogs. Glenn served for several terms on the Pork Association Board and enjoyed raising hogs with his brother, Sam. He was an outdoorsman and was always his happiest spending time outside. Glenn's family was the center of his life and brought him immense joy. He was a Christian and loved the Lord. He was a devoted husband, selfless father, involved grandfather, special brother and uncle, and loyal friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sons, Matt Sparger and wife, Kellie, C.J. Sparger and wife, Kimmy, and Jeremy Sparger and wife, Julia; daughter, Holly Davis and husband, Curtis; eighteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Sam Sparger; sisters, Martha Peikert, and Virginia Warren and husband, Ben; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
