Gwendolyn S. Belyeu, 94, of Trinity, Texas peacefully passed from this life March 8, 2023. She was born July 15, 1928, in Ropesville, Texas to Jess S. Spencer and Belvia Mae McCarly Spencer. Gwendolyn married K.H. Belyeu September 16, 1952 in Coleman, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Gwendolyn attended High School and later became a beautician. She loved her career and the many relationships she had with her clients. She was a longtime member of St. Joe Baptist Church and loved serving the Lord. Gwendolyn was a devoted wife, selfless mother, doting grandmother, and loyal friend to many. She was always kind, outgoing, vibrant, and joyful. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Mike Burleson and wife, Ruby; daughter, Nellie Prado and husband, Eddie; grandchildren, Craig Burleson and wife, Shelia, Brad Burleson, Heather Coulter, Amy Burleson, Brent Burleson and wife, Chanda, Jessica Criswell and husband, Cory, and Johnathan Prado and wife, Libby; great-grandchildren, Katie Coker and Brooklyn Burleson; twenty-one great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extend family. Gwendolyn has been reunited with her husband, K.H. Belyeu; and parents, Jess and Belvia Spencer; sons, Don Burleson and Steve Belyeu; and six siblings.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. in Downing Cemetery with Brother Donnie Auvenshine officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Brent Burleson, Craig Burleson, Brad Burleson, Ricky Woodard, Eddie Prado, and Johnathan Prado. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Singleton and Travis Kessell.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joe Baptist Church at PO Box 201, De Leon, Texas 76444, in memory of Gwendolyn.
The family would like to thank Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Traditions Health Hospice for taking care of our family member like she was their own.
