Harold D.
Nabors
Mar 25, 1936 — Jun 19, 2019
Harold D. Nabors was born in Gorman, Texas on March 25, 1936, to Nathan Lee Nabors and Maudie Pittman Nabors. He graduated from De Leon High School in 1954, always loved his classmates and has stayed in touch with many of them. Harold attended Arlington State College on a co-op program with Texas Electric Service Company. He spent thirty-seven years working with Texas Utilities as Electrician, Electrical Maintenance Foreman, and finishing his career as Safety Engineer.
Harold accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior as a teenager in a revival under the tabernacle at Liberty Baptist Church. He was baptized at First Baptist Church, De Leon, as there was not enough water in the creek for a baptism. He was a member of St. Joe Baptist Church.
In 1961, after four months of courtship, he married Marie Simmons in Monahans, Texas. They have two children, Hal Nabors of Sherman and Kim West of Plano. They celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage in March.
He served in the Air Force, Air National Guard and Army National Guard. His passion for flying continued throughout the years as he took joy rides with friends and logged many hours on a home flight simulator.
Harold loved the outdoors and spent many hours at the lake fishing, or pulling teenage skiers. He and Marie loved RVing and often traveled the United States with friends. Harold loved people, enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest as long as he was able.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty eight years, Marie Nabors; son, Hal Nabors and wife, Julie; daughter, Kim West and husband, John; grandchildren, Lauren Reed, Natalie West, Karl West; step-grandchildren, Kyla Morgan, Jherid Morgan and Collin Crain; brother, Charles Nabors; sisters-in-law, Barbara Preslar, Nancy Riggins and husband, Jerry, Bonnie Pedigo and husband, D.V., Sandra Bains; brother-in-law, Randy Bains; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Maudie Nabors; brother, Derwin L. Nabors; sisters-in-law, Alvalee Nabors, Louise Nabors, Joy Frymire, Ruby Davidson; brothers-in-law, Donald Bains, David Bains, Charles Bains and Richard Bains.
Harold went home to be with Jesus on June 19, 2019. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joe Baptist Church with Brother Matt Morton and Brother Jackie Auvenshine officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joe Baptist Church in honor of Harold.
