Herbert J. Smith, 71, of Gorman, passed Friday, May 15, 2021, in Eastland. He was born July 7, 1949, in Butler, Pennsylvania to Harvey and Dorothy Smith.

Herbert moved to moved to Gorman in 1969 and lived in Eastland County until his passing. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was employed with Birdsong Peanuts as a foreman for many years.

He is survived by his daughters, Tracy Trevino and husband, Tommy; and April Fischer and husband, William; grandsons, Wade Cariker, Jonathan Flores, Tommy J. Trevino, Thomas Trevino, and Justice Fischer; granddaughters, Kaye Fischer and Jasmine Moore; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, James (Jim) Smith; sisters, Marianne Smith and Pearl Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Dorothy Smith; brother, Lee Smith; and sisters, Sue Smith and Pauline Smith.

The Smith family received friends May 20, 2021, for visitation. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Herbert.
