Ima Jean Alene Holt, 91, of De Leon, went to be with the Lord February 9, 2015, surrounded by her family.
She was born in New Castle, Texas, to Milton and Ida Mae Harrell June 20, 1923. She married Leslie Mack Holt in 1941 and they had one son, Leslie Gene.
She owned and operated a small beauty shop for two years, in New Ark, Texas. Ima Jean put her whole heart into everything she did. She loved to bake, garden and canned all that she grew. Sewing was her biggest passion. She could sew anything you asked her to. She sewed for the public for many years, and did all the alterations for Smith's Department Store.
She was a devoted Christian and a member of First Christian Church of De Leon for over forty years. She loved sharing about God and taught Sunday School.
Ima Jean was the greatest grandmother and great grandmother, and loved unconditionally. She taught them to love selflessly and to love God. She leaves behind a beloved sister, Eula Dean Abbott; one son, Leslie Gene Holt; granddaughter, Melissa Sones and husband, Tommy; one grandson, Paul Holt; granddaughters, Tara Upchurch and Kristine Martin; eight great-grandchildren, including Matthew and Bethany Sones; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Mack Holt; parents, Milton and Ida Mae Harrell; five sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, De Leon. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery.
