Obituary

James Arnold May, 80, of De Leon, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was born May 26, 1943, in Palo Pinto County, Texas to James David May and Johnnie Mae Pendergraft May.

James was raised in Graford, Texas and enjoyed living in many different places throughout his life. He spent time in Indiana and many different areas around Texas but always considered the Graford area to be his home. He moved to the De Leon community in 2018 and was thankful for his time here. James proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed for Halliburton and Freight Masters as a supervisor in the machine shop for many years. He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing and hunting and just loved to spend time outdoors. He was a loving and involved dad, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. His grandchildren were his greatest joy in life. He was sure to attend all their sporting and school events as he was able and would beam with love and pride over their accomplishments. James always enjoyed living a simple life and preferred small-town life. He was a Christian and loved the Lord. His loving family and many friends will miss him deeply.

He is survived by his two children, Derek May and wife, Joanna, and Michelle Killough; grandchildren, Caleb Killough, Collin Killough, Hunter May and Austin May; great-grandchildren, Easton Killough and Brailynn Killough; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. James was preceded in death by his parents; and his four sisters, Ann Dunlap, Leola Bodie, Judy Brown, and Mary May.
