Obituary

Janice Carol Dodd, 79, of Comanche, went home to her Lord and Savior Thursday March 21, 2019, with her loving family by her side. Carol was born February 9, 1940, in Comyn, Texas to William Henry Dickey and Martha Lissie Chancellor Dickey. Carol married her loving husband, Kenneth Dodd, Sr. August 4, 1960 in Dallas, Texas.

Kenneth and Carol are members of De Leon First Baptist Church and enjoyed attending the Couples II Sunday School Class. Carol graduated from De Leon High School in 1958. They lived in Dallas, where they started their family. They moved to Midlothian in 1975 until retiring to their home in Comanche County in 2008. Carol was a Supervisor for Southwestern Bell / AT&T for many years. She was also a dedicated and loving homemaker for her family. Carol enjoyed many hobbies including playing Bridge, 84 (with her De Leon domino group), and any other competitive games. She loved being outside and tending to her beautiful flowers and garden. Carol was an avid reader and a talented seamstress. Above all, Carol's greatest joy in life was her family. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the center of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving Carol are her husband, Kenneth Dodd, Sr.; sons, Kenneth Mike Dodd, Jr. and wife, Cindy, and Gregory Louis Dodd and wife, Darlene; daughters, Brenda Carol Hartson and husband, Glenn, Deborah Lynn Powers and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Cody Dodd, Keri Hughes and husband, Austin, Lauren Ward and husband, Jonathan, Cameron Hartson, Maegan Hartson, Brittany York, Mason York, Maegan Powers, and Ashleigh Martin and husband, Sam; great-grandchildren, Lilly Hughes, Max Hughes, Makayla Martin, Sophia Martin, Richie Martin and Declan Martin; brothers, Waylon Daniels, William Dickey and wife, Janet, and Danny Dickey; sister, Neta Sue Basham; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Martha Lissie Dickey.

Funeral services celebrating Carol's life were held Monday, March 25, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Daniel Harper officiating. Interment followed in Sardis Cemetery, Hasse, Texas. Serving as pallbearers were Colton Nabors, Clayton Nabors, Jayce Daniels, Jacob Daniels, Camon Seider, Caghen Seider and William Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were Dwain Daniels, Bill Daniels, Danny Goforth, Jeff Dodd, Danny Dodd, Jr., Keith Dodd, Jr. and Deryl Dodd.
