John Alford Dewayne (J.D.) Richardson, 92, of De Leon, Texas peacefully passed from this life January 18, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born March 15,1932, to Jack and Lillie Richardson. J.D. married the love of his life, Jessie Lee Wright, on March 10, 1952, and they enjoyed a loving marriage of 57 years.
After getting married in Comanche they moved to Odessa, Texas where J.D. worked in the oil field. In the early 1960's, he moved his family to Kermit, Texas where he owned and operated the ICE House, delivering large blocks of ice to residential homes and businesses in the area.
In 1969, J.D. moved his family to De Leon and remained in De Leon the rest of his life. He loved this little Texas town so much and served his community in many ways. He was a member of the De Leon Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He was a deacon at North Side Baptist Church and later became a member of the First Baptist Church of De Leon.
After moving to De Leon, he started his truck driving career where he hauled hay and peanuts for local De Leon farmers. In 1980, with his youngest son Eugene Richardson, he became an owner and operator of Richardson Trucking. He ended his truck driving career driving for Red Chain Feed in Gorman.
J.D. was a family man. Family was one of the most important things in his life and his love for his kids and grandchildren is like no other. He was always a helper and if he knew of someone needing help, he would be the first to lend a hand.
He is survived by one son, Don Richardson and wife, Darla; two daughters, Patti Johnson and husband, Johnny, and Millie Richardson, wife to late husband, Michael Richardson; seven grandchildren, Brenda Allen, Michael John Richardson, Christie Owen and husband, Richard, Caycee Richardson and wife, Tonya, Jarret Richardson and wife, Allison, and Kolby Richardson and wife, Sara, and Bradly Johnson and wife, Kendra; fifteen great-grands, Jaycee Cronk, Jacoby Mathis, Alyson Owen, Charlie Richardson, Maycee Richardson, Shawn Richardson, Lena Dove, Dylan Dove, Jada Dove, Atticus Johnson, Lillian Carman, Rowen Richardson, Reese Richardson, Reid Richardson and Wyatt Richardson; four great-great grands, Olivia and Noe Chavez, Autumn Daniels, and Leighton Mathis; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
J.D. has been reunited with his wife, Jessie Richardson; sons, Michael Richardson and Eugene Richardson; parents, Jack and Lillie Richardson; and all eight of his siblings.
Funeral services celebrating J.D.'s life were held Saturday, January 25th, at 2:30 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be directed to the De Leon Volunteer Fire Department or the American Heart Association in memory of J.D.
