Obituary

John Alford Dewayne (J.D.) Richardson, 92, of De Leon, Texas peacefully passed from this life January 18, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born March 15,1932, to Jack and Lillie Richardson. J.D. married the love of his life, Jessie Lee Wright, on March 10, 1952, and they enjoyed a loving marriage of 57 years.

After getting married in Comanche they moved to Odessa, Texas where J.D. worked in the oil field. In the early 1960's, he moved his family to Kermit, Texas where he owned and operated the ICE House, delivering large blocks of ice to residential homes and businesses in the area.

He was a member of the De Leon Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He was a deacon at North Side Baptist Church and later became a member of the First Baptist Church of De Leon.

After moving to De Leon, he started his truck driving career where he hauled hay and peanuts for local De Leon farmers. In 1980, with his youngest son Eugene Richardson, he became an owner and operator of Richardson Trucking. He ended his truck driving career driving for Red Chain Feed in Gorman.

J.D. was a family man. Family was one of the most important things in his life and his love for his kids and grandchildren is like no other. He was always a helper and if he knew of someone needing help, he would be the first to lend a hand.
