Jerry Wayne
Logan
Jul 1, 1940 — Dec 27, 2022
Jerry Wayne Logan, 82, a lifelong resident of De Leon passed from this life December 27, 2022, with his loving family by his side. He was born to Ethan and Christine Heckler Logan on July 1, 1940, in De Leon, Texas. He married his loving wife of sixty-two years, Beverly Evans, on December 27, 1959.
Jerry was employed with the City of De Leon as the Public Works Superintendent for over forty years. After retirement, he was always happy to continue to help the city by locating lines and valves as needed. It gave Jerry joy to be able to help the team he had led for so many years. Jerry also selflessly served the community of De Leon through his involvement with the De Leon Volunteer Fire Department since he was seventeen years old. He joined the Armstrong Masonic Lodge #445 at the age of twenty-one and remained a member of the lodge for sixty-five years. Jerry poured a lot of love into the De Leon community, and he was proud this was his home. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather; and a loyal friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife and companion, Beverly; his son, Johnny Logan; grandson, Jeff Logan; sister, Ann Hickman and husband, Glen; and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Masonic graveside funeral services were held Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Brother Glen Hickman officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Jeffrey Logan, Andy Lopez, Brad Gray, Cory Young, Roddy Qualls, JJ Bolton, Pat Ripley, Joe Martinez, Blanton Jones, Michael Hulsey, Kent Evans, and Jacob Evans.
If desired, memorial contributions in memory of Jerry may be made to the De Leon VFD or to a charity of your choice.
