Jewell (Brewer) Kimmell, 93, of De Leon, peacefully passed from this life April 20, 2023. She was born January 14, 1930, in Gorman, Texas to David Levi Brewer and Evia Lou Wallace Brewer. Jewell married Adonis Kimmell August 26, 1944.
Jewell lived all her life in Comanche County. She was a longtime devoted member of Fair Haven Baptist Church in De Leon and was Baptized in Nabors Lake as a young girl. Jewell held various jobs throughout her life, but most notable was her role as a loving homemaker for her family. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and crocheting. She made many treasures for her family to enjoy always. She absolutely loved to fish and hunt. She loved all kinds of games but especially Bunco. Jewell was a talented journalist and wrote for the Concord News for many years. She was a hard worker always, a devoted servant to her Lord, a loving caregiver and provider for her family, and a true joy to be around. She will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, LaRessie Wilkerson and husband, Robby; grandchildren, Rowdy Wilkerson (Christi), Nicky Don Wilkerson (Karen), Misty Alix (Jim), Don Kimmell (Pam) Jon Kimmell (Brandi), and Lindsay Innman; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Jewell has been reunited with her husband, Adonis; sons, Harrell Kimmell and David Kimmell; grandson, Joseph Wilkerson; great-grandson, Cody Wilkerson; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services celebrating Jewell's life were held Monday, April 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Daniel Burlison officiating. Interment followed in Victor Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jewell's great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Evans, Robert Keith, Mike Stewart, Phillip Levens, Gary Dutton, Lannes Callison, Lupe Torres, J.P. Loyless, and Billy Hudgins. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the De Leon Historical Society at 173 North Texas, De Leon, Texas 76444 or to the charity of your choice in memory of Jewell.
