Joe Dean Ripley, 81, a life-long resident of De Leon, passed peacefully in his sleep November 5, 2020. He was born September 28, 1939, in Stephenville, Texas to John Ambrose Ripley and Alma Maurine Hicks Ripley. Joe married his loving wife, Jacquelyn Stephen June 22, 1962.

Joe graduated with the De Leon High School Class of 1957. Following his high school graduation, Joe enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country until 1960. Upon his return to De Leon, Joe was employed by De Leon Telephone Company, Comanche County Telephone Company and Totelcom for thirty-three years. Joe was a long-time member of HWY 6 Church of Christ in De Leon. He volunteered for many years with the De Leon Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed many hobbies including HAM radios, flying model airplanes and everything golf. Joe was a member of Par Country Club for many years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and loyal friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Jackie; son, James Patrick Ripley of De Leon; daughter, Dianne Tiller and husband, Steve, and their son, Cole Tiller, of Tyler, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special golf buddies. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary D. Ripley, Dorotha Sikes and husband, Leon; and brother, J.S. Ripley.

Memorial services celebrating Joe's life were held Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at HWY 6 Church Christ, De Leon, with Minister Rick Smitherman officiating. Joe was laid to rest in De Leon  Cemetery.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church in memory of Joe.
