John Houston Moss, Sr., 87, of De Leon, peacefully passed from this life March 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 28, 1938, in Llano, Texas to John G. Moss and Elizabeth Goble Moss. John married Joyce LaVon Ellis on May 28, 1959, and they enjoyed a blessed marriage of sixty-four years until her passing in 2023.

John and Joyce were longtime members of The Assembly of God Church, De Leon, and they loved their church family dearly. John was employed with Prater Equipment as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He operated all kinds of equipment throughout his career and especially loved dirt work. John had a deep love of hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. John loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with each of them. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and special friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his sons, John H. Moss, Jr. and wife, Dianne, David G. Moss and wife, Edamae, and Dan Moss and wife, Robyn; grandchildren, Shallon Neff (Justin), Kellie Emery (Clint), Brad Moss (Amber), Aaron Moss, Hayden Moss, Leah Mae Solasco, Mitch Xia Solasco, Danzie Moss, Tegan Moss, Kalee Williams, Nation Barbier and Brittain Barbier; great-grandchildren, Summer, Madison, Willow, Jakkie, Ian, and Jameson; and great-great grandchildren, Nicholas, Bailey, Brantley, and Rosie; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. John has been reunited with his wife and parents.

Funeral services celebrating John's life were held Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Munter officiating. Graveside committal followed Oakland Cemetery.
