Obituary

Jon Rodger Coan, 77, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior November 28, 2014, with his family by his side.

He was born May 12, 1937, in Gorman to Albert Lee Coan and Alice Sanders Coan. Jon married his wife of 53 years, Barbara Park Coan, in Robinson Springs Baptist Church in De Leon on May 27, 1961.

Jon was a long time member of First Baptist Church of De Leon. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. He was awarded many medals of Honor for his service to our country. He was a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge. Jon was a lifelong farmer. He loved farming his land and tending to his place. He enjoyed his family and was his happiest while spending time with them. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. Jon has left a loving legacy and will be missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Park Coan; daughter, Becky Escamilla and husband, Ernie; grandchildren, Krista Alvarado and husband, Jose, and Kevin Escamilla; sisters, Polly Simpson of Ft. Worth and Pansy Preston of De Leon; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family. Jon has gone home to join his parents, Albert and Alice Coan; son, James Rodger Coan; and brothers, Billie Sanders Coan and Thomas Glenn Coan.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 30, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Daniel Harper officiating. Graveside funeral services, with Masonic Rites, followed in De Leon Cemetery.
