Josephine Ybarra, 73, a lifelong resident of De Leon, Texas peacefully passed from this life November 30, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She was born January 24, 1950, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Refugio Torrez and Elida Frausto. Josephine was blessed with a long and loving marriage to Juan Ybarra, Jr.
Josephine worked for many years in the pecan harvesting industry. She enjoyed working outside with her hands. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She loved her church and her church family dearly. Josephine enjoyed cooking and providing meals for her large family. She was always her happiest while spending time with her family. She was lighthearted and loved taking her chances in playing scratch off lottory tickets and Bingo. She was the centerfold of her family, and they will deeply miss her.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Cervantes and husband, Pedro; stepmother, Maria Torrez; brothers, Robert Torrez, Ralph Torrez, Ray Torrez, Arthur Costilla, Rufus Torrez, Austin Torrez, Dan Torrez, and Robert Guana; sisters, Carol Cole, Janie Salazar, Mary Ann Hernandez, Ophelia Walker, Nancie Muterspaugh, Antonia Suarez, and Rachel Torrez; grandchildren, Amanda Ybarra, Adrian Ybarra, Victoria Ybarra, Cecilia Cervantes, David Cervantes, Danny Cervantes, Sylvia Hernandez, Jorge Hernandez, Juan Hernandez, and Raul Hernandez; twenty seven great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family. Josephine has been reunited with her husband, Juan Ybarra, Jr.; stepfather, Guadalupe Cardoza; parents, Elida Frausto and Refugio Torrez; son, Victor Ybarra; daughter, Lisa Hernandez; grandson, Eduardo Hernandez; great grandson, Azriel Hernandez.
Rosary services were held Monday, December 4, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was held at 1:00 p.m. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery.
