Joshua Nathaniel Shipman, 12, of Desdemona, went home to join his Lord and Savior Sunday, June 29, 2014. He was born November 13, 2001, in Cocoa, Florida, to Aaron Duane Shipman and Amanda Dawn Bianchi Shipman.
Joshua was an active member of Desdemona First Baptist Church. He was a 6th grade student at Gorman Junior High. Joshua was a dedicated and talented athlete, although what defined his life was his love for the Lord and his ability to put others before himself. He loved playing football, baseball and basketball. He enjoyed being outdoors and swimming. He was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing. Joshua will be deeply missed by countless friends and family.
He is survived by his parents, Aaron and Amanda Shipman of Desdemona; brothers, Luke Shipman, Jadon Shipman, Riley Shipman and Logan Shipman; grandparents, Darvin and Lorita Shipman and Red and Pat Bianchi; great-grandparents, John and Lavella Shaw, Billie Shipman, and John and Bessie Fryar; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at Desdemona First Baptist Church with Brother Darvin Shipman and Brother Dick Webster officiating. Graveside services followed in Howard Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bricen Shirley, Trenton Shirley, Nicolas Shipman, Luke Shipman, Kaleb Vaughn and Landon Vaughn.
