Joyce LaVon Moss, 82, of De Leon, peacefully passed from this life at home with her loving family by her side Saturday, November 11, 2023. She was born September 17, 1941, in Orange County, California to Earl Carleton and Stella Kitterman Carleton. Joyce married John H. Moss May 28, 1959, and they enjoyed a blessed marriage of sixty-four years.

Joyce lived most all her life in De Leon. She was a member of Assembly of God Church and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a dedicated LVN for over forty years and loved the opportunity God provided her to care for others in their time of need. Joyce was also a dog groomer and trainer. She had a special ability to connect with dogs and loved them dearly. Joyce enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. She truly enjoyed people and the many special friendships she had with others. Joyce's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart and was her happiest while spending time with them. She was a loving and loyal wife, an attentive mother and grandmother; a special sister and aunt, and a loyal friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, John H. Moss; sons, John Moss, Jr. and wife, Dianne; David Moss and wife, Hilda, and Dan Moss and Robyn; grandchildren, Shallon and husband, Justin, Kellie and husband, Clint, Brad and wife, Amber, Aaron, Hayden, Paul, Danzie and husband, Devin, Tegan, Kalee, Nation, and Brittain; great-grandchildren, Summer and husband (Cody), Madison and Alec, Willow, Jakki, Ian, and Jameson; great-great grandchildren, Nicholas, Bailey Brantly, and Rosie; sisters, Mildred Doughtery and Vickie Clark; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Joyce has been reunited with her parents, E.H. and Stella Carleton.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Munter officiating. Interment followed in Oakland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Greg Gilder, Terry Gilder, Mike Melot, Tommy Hudson, Robert Hudson and Clayton Hudson.
