Larry Delton Walker, 61, of Desdemona, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, with his family by his side.
He was born July 1, 1953, in Stephenville, to Delton and Norma Walker. Larry married Melinda Buckley May 18, 1991, in Desdemona.
Larry was a long-time employee with the State of Texas as a state highway inspector. Prior to working for the state, he was employed with B C Construction in Eastland for many years. He had lived in Eastland County his entire life. Larry was a member of De Leon First Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading, especially about history and war. He enjoyed fine cigars and working on old antique construction tools. The highlight of his life was his family. He was happiest when spending time with them and his many friends. Larry will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Melinda Buckley Walker; son, Scott Walker; daughter, Selina Hodges and husband, Cody; grandson, Ansel Hodges; aunts and uncles, Linda Hooks and husband, Doyle, Allen Jones, Jerry Walker and wife, Wanda, J.D. Walker and wife, Wilma, and Taylor Greene; father-in-law, Jerry Buckley; other extended family; and a host of friends. Larry has gone home to be reunited with his parents; and aunts, Virginia Greene and Nancy Jones.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church. Graveside services followed in Desdemona Cemetery. Brother Daniel Harper and Brother Ben McCleery officiated the services.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to De Leon First Baptist Church, the Desdemona Activity Center, or to the American Diabetes Association, in memory of Larry.
