Obituary

Laura Ann Hight Singleton, 74, passed peacefully from this life Sunday, January 19, 2025, at her home. She was born August 26, 1950, in Ranger, Texas to Amos Davis Hight and Mary Elizabeth Rainwater Hight. Laura married the love of her life Steve J. Singleton on July 28, 1969, in Comanche.

Steve and Laura lived in the De Leon and Rucker communities all their marriage. She was a member of Cedar Springs Methodist Church and later attended Morton Chapel for many years. Steve and Laura owned and operated Steve Singleton Plumbing for 39 years, alongside their son, Jaret. Prior to her marriage, Laura was employed with Palo Pinto County as a wildlife administrator and volunteered for the Forest for Habitat. Laura enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She loved to play the guitar and tend to her animals. She adored children, loved people, and never met a stranger. The center of her life was her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful prayer warrior and shared the word of God whenever she was able. Laura loved to laugh, and especially loved Floyd Cramer (Last Date). She was a devoted wife and mother, doting grandmother, loyal friend, caring neighbor, and a faithful believer in Christ. Laura loved everyone she met and made sure to tell them. She will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Jaret Singleton and wife, Shelley, and Michael Singleton and wife, Destiny; grandson, Jacob Singleton and wife, Cheyenne; granddaughters, Carrie Singleton and Riverlyn Singleton; great-grandsons, Haskins John Singleton and Barrett Bragg; brothers, Eddie Hight and wife, Lisa, Larry Hight and wife, Brenda; sister, Virginia Gilpin; brother-in-law, Neil Singleton and wife, Sandy; adopted kids, James Breeden, Kyle Carney, Glen Salyer and wife, Tiffany, Stephanie Salyer, Drew, Cotton, Preston, and Nick; dear cousin, Carol Craig;  best friend, Janie Welch; numerous nieces, nephews; and other extended family.
