L avada "Clarene" Denson Melton, age 94, peacefully passed away April 2, 2020, at her home in Richardson. She was born July 24, 1925, in Merkel, Texas to Clarence and Bessie Ash Perry.

Clarene was raised in Merkel and graduated from Merkel High School. She was a devoted homemaker for her family and worked outside the home as a bookkeeper in the retail industry.

She is survived by her husband, "B.J." Melton; sons, Terry Denson and wife, Diana; and Larry Denson and wife, Paula; sister, Kay Lynn Clowdus; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Clarene was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Lee Denson; grandson, Brandon Denson; sister, Betty Jean Russom; and nephew, Randall Russom.

Graveside services celebrating Clarene's life were held Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in Desdemona Cemetery.

Also, please do not gather in groups larger than 10 people (at the advised 6 foot distance). The tent seating will be reserved for immediate family only. We are saddened that we cannot currently allow friends to pay their respects to the Melton family with a traditional visitation and ceremony.
