Lee Roy Childers, 68, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior, Thursday, June 30, 2016, with his family by his side.
He was born June 20, 1948, in Odessa, Texas to Thurman Childers and Vera Lois Huffman Childers. Lee was married to his loving wife, Emma Childers, for 41 years.
Lee was a devoted member of Church of Christ, De Leon. He loved his church and served the Lord wholeheartedly. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era as a Line Medic. Lee served on the De Leon City Council for six years. He cared deeply about the citizens of De Leon and wanted to do his part helping to care for and improve the community. Lee had many hobbies but really enjoyed building things and working with wood. He loved his family, his church family, many friends and neighbors and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Emma Childers; sons, Lee Childers, Jr. and wife, Candice, T.J. Childers and wife, Jeanna, Frankie Childers and wife, Tosha; daughters, Laurie Dickens and husband, Bob, and Becky Beattie and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Katelyn Rixon, Kristen Lewis, Robert Beattie, Isaiah Childers, Shyanne Beebe, Logan Childers, Hannah Dyson, Emily Dyson, Kaidience Childers, Kennedi Dyson and Gauge Childers; one great-grandchild; sister, Tracey Sandoval; adopted family, Cord Dyson and Starla Dyson; numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family; and his beloved dog, Blue.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Childers and Vera Lois Huffman Childers; and grandson, Adam Harmon.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Church of Christ (HWY 6), De Leon, with Minister David Westbrook officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery.
