Obituary

Linda Sue McLearen, 74, of Desdemona, passed away March 1, 2017, with her family by her side.

She was born October 16, 1942, in Desdemona to Robert Leo and Grace Lane Lewis. Linda married W.R. McLearen October 19, 1960, in Comanche County.

Linda lived in the Desdemona community most all of her life. She was a long-time member of Desdemona First Baptist Church. She was employed with De Leon Independent School District as a bus driver, elementary cafeteria manager and Pre-Kindergarten teacher. She retired from DISD after 25 years of dedicated service. Linda was a loving and devoted homemaker for her family. She was an excellent cook and loved to make meals for her family. She enjoyed yard work and gardening. She also enjoyed working on her computer. Linda's grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. She was a wonderful Mamaw to each of them. She leaves behind a loving legacy and will be missed beyond measure by all who loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ray McLearen; son, Kevin McLearen and wife, Kay; daughter, Kay Gray; grandchildren, Gary McLearen and Kristen Bohlen, Kara Espe and husband, Sam, Dustin Gray and wife, Lindsy, Dara Ruhnke and Justin Pennington; and Whitney Bettis; great-grandchildren, Khambri Espe, Kaylynn Espe and Skylar Espe; brother, Joe Lewis and wife, Dodie; sister, Zoe Shoemaker; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, many loving friends, and all those honorary grandchildren who called her Mamaw. Linda has been reunited with her son, Phillip McLearen; parents, Robert and Grace Lewis; grandson, Michael McLearen; brothers, Gary, Manford and Wesley; and sisters, June and Elaine.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Desdemona First Baptist Church with Brother Daniel Harper officiating. Graveside services followed in Desdemona Cemetery.
