Louis Odell Bolling, known as Odell to friends and family, passed away peacefully at home in the Downing area of Comanche County on May 22, 2025.  He was born on July 17, 1946, to Jesse Horace Bolling and May Daffern Bolling in Smithfield, Texas.

He attended school in both Smithfield and Keller. He married Barbara O'Neill on September 5, 1964, in Keller, together raising 3 children. He followed his father and older brothers into the brick and rock masonry trade, later passing that skill on to his own son. Odell and Barbara eventually settled down outside of Azle in the community of Reno. In 2012, shortly after Barbara's death, he retired, moving a cabin onto his daughter and son-in-law's property where he enjoyed working outdoors.  An avid reader, he could often be found with his kindle on the front porch or a bench on the trail around the property where he could watch the chickens or wildlife. Odell was proud of each of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. Their visits never failed to put a smile on his face. His three great grandchildren's pictures lined the walls of his cabin, bringing him great joy.

Odell is survived by his son, Bruce Bolling and wife, Tammy, of Millsap; daughters, Janice Hulsey and husband, James, of Comanche; and Patsy Gutermuth and husband, Aaron, of Bedford; grandchildren: Clint Hulsey, Shelby Bolling Kline (Justin), Daniel Hulsey (Kayla), Savannah Bolling, Amber Gutermuth Blanton (Christian), Cameron Bolling and Joey Gutermuth; great grandchildren, Henry, Violet and Joy; sister, Mayanell Bolling; brothers, Cecil Bolling (Sammie); and Kenneth Bolling (Deb).

He was preceded by his wife, Barbara Bolling; parents, Horace and May Bolling; sisters, Jessie Porter and Eleanor Hightower; brother, Clyde Bolling; and grandson, Kevin Hulsey.
