Loyd Hardin, 94, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior February 7, 2018, with his family by his side. He was born August 27, 1923, in De Leon, to Daniel William Hardin and Myrtle Agnes Sturdivant Hardin. Loyd married his loving wife of 72 years on September 10, 1945, in Dublin.
Loyd and Vivian lived in the De Leon Community for most of their lives. Loyd was a veteran of the United States Navy and was extremely proud of his service to his country. He and Vivian were long-time members of the Assembly of God Church and faithfully served there throughout their seventy-two years of marriage. They loved their church and considered their church family as their own. Loyd enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, mowing and keeping his yard beautiful. He also loved watching the Texas Rangers play baseball. Loyd was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. His family was his greatest accomplishment and his sincerest joy in life. He loved attending his grandkids activities and spending as much time as possible with this family. Loyd was a true family man and a faithful servant to God. He and Vivian leave behind a loving legacy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Danny Hardin and wife, Joanne, Donnie Hardin and wife, Melinda, and Rocky Hardin and wife, Tracey; daughters, Glenda Weaver and husband, Bodie, and Karen Sharp and husband, Boyd; son-in-law, Jimmy Farley and wife, Martha; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Jimmy Hardin and wife, Sue; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family; and many loving friends.
Loyd was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Vivian; daughter, Sandra Farley; parents, Daniel and Myrtle Hardin; brothers, Herman Hardin and William (Bill) Hardin; and sister, Juanita Burgess.
A celebration of Loyd's life was held Friday, February 9, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Munter officiating. Loyd was laid to rest beside his wife in De Leon Cemetery.
