Lu Elle Pierce Morris, 95, of De Leon, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014.
She was born December 27, 1918, in De Leon, to J.C. Pierce and Lovie Otwell Pierce. Lu Elle married J.B. Morris December 24, 1937.
Lu Elle was Methodist. She was a devoted and loving homemaker for her family. She worked outside of the home as an associate nurse at the De Leon Hospital for over a decade and was the Activity Director at the De Leon Nursing Home for many years.
She enjoyed collecting dolls and keeping records of De Leon historical events and different families that called De Leon home over the years. She was gifted at making floral arrangements and gardening. She loved her family dearly and was especially proud of her grandchildren. She will be missed beyond measure by many.
She is survived by her sons, James Curtis Morris and wife, Alliece, and Toby Morris and wife, Julia; grandsons, Chris Morris and wife, Lynze, and Cody Morris and wife, Sandy; granddaughter, Whitney Morris; granddaughter-in-law, Anne Morris; great grandsons, Blake Morris and Kelton Morris; great granddaughters, Ella Belle Morris and Heather Morris; sister, Mary Ruth Gregory of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters-n-law, Josephine Pierce and Bobbie Pierce; brother-in-law, E.Y. Morris; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
Lu Elle was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Morris; parents, J.C. and Lovie Pierce; grandson, Jody Morris; sister, Louise Oglesby; and brothers, Jerry Pierce and Tommie Pierce.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Brother Jackie Auvenshine officiating and Daryl Hirst singing. Serving as pallbearers were Ted Hodges, Josh Carruth, Jim Frank, Cody Hodges, Fred Iley and Allen Stone. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Pierce, David Olgesby, Ronald Powell and Jimmy Dale Johnson.
