Madge Justice Burgess, 69, of Carbon, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born July 25, 1949, in Gorman to Harry Glenn Justice, Sr. and Marciel Greer Justice. Madge married her husband of over thirty years, Richard "Dicky" Burgess, in 1969.

Madge lived in the Carbon area most all of her life. She retired from the Texas Criminal Justice System after working in the Robertson Unit in Abilene in the administrative department for many years. She enjoyed ranching and loved all animals. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Naigle and husband, Dennis; nephews, Tyler Justice and Wayne Reynolds and wife, Lisa; two great-nieces, Emily and Megan; and other extended family. Madge was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dicky" Burgess in 2002; son, Richard Shane Burgess in 1997; parents, Harry Glenn Justice, Sr. and Marciel Greer Justice; and brother, Harry Glenn Justice, Jr.

Graveside funeral services celebrating Madge's life were held Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in Murray Cemetery, Carbon. If desired, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Legion at 2107 West Plummer Street, Eastland, Texas 76448, in honor of Madge.
