Maedell Janice Vinson, 87, of De Leon, peacefully passed from this life on Sunday, April 2, 2023. She was born June 2, 1935, in De Leon, Texas to Roy Neal Goates and Eula Mae James Goates. Maedell married James Vinson January 16, 1954, in De Leon.
Maedell was a longtime member of St. Joe Baptist Church. She lived in De Leon all her life and was employed with De Leon Hospital as a clerk in the business office for many years. She enjoyed many hobbies including reading, working in her flower beds, and spending time outdoors. She loved to crochet and donated many of her homemade pieces such as toboggans and blankets to those in need. Her family was her greatest joy in life. She was always her happiest while with her daughters and their families. Maedell was kind, loving, compassionate, and such a joy to those who knew and loved her. She will be missed beyond measure.
She has been reunited with her husband, James; parents, Roy and Eula Mae Goates; brothers, Louie Goates and wife, Wanda, and Norman Goates.
Maedell is survived by her daughters, Becky Bryan and husband, Harvey, and Barbara Jones and husband, Kendall; grandchildren, Lacey Fair and husband, Jayton, Casey Jones and wife, Lindsey, and Zachary Bryan; great grandchildren, Hannah Fair, Kaylee Fair, Kenslee Jones, Knox Jones, and Mason Bryan; brother, A.C. Goates and wife, Ruth; sister, Olivia Fields; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on April 5, 2023, at Nowlin Anders Funeral Chapel with Brother Matt Morton officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joe Baptist Church (PO Box 201, De Leon, Texas 76444) or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) in memory of Maedell.
