Obituary

Margaret Files Kimmell passed away on June 3, 2016, with her family by her side.

She was born April 2, 1937, in Gorman, Texas, to John D. and Thaliah Smith Files. She married Darrell Kimmell on July 16, 1955. Margaret and Darrell have five children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Margaret graduated from De Leon High School in 1955. She lived in De Leon and Desdemona areas the majority of her life. She and her husband owned Kimmell's Western Store in De Leon for 12 years. She served as the Secretary and Treasurer for the De Leon Riding Club for a number of years. She was employed by the De Leon Hospital / Comanche County Medical Center for 23 years and retired as the Dietary Manager.

Margaret loved her family and enjoyed having big family gatherings. She was known as a wonderful cook and would start taking request weeks prior to family events. Everyone's favorite was her homemade hot rolls. She was a collector of butterflies and hummingbirds. She was a Texas Rangers fan and could quote stats for each player. She enjoyed traveling and going to the Texas Hill Country in the spring to see the bluebonnets and other wildflowers. She was a very selfless person who loved and devoted her life to her family.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 60 years, Darrell Kimmell; son, Randal Kimmell and wife Jodie, daughter, Marsha Marchbanks and husband Ron, daughter, Sherry Morian and husband Dennis, daughter, Tammy Davis and husband Benny; grandchildren, Valerie Paul, Brandon Davis and wife Emily, Dustin Davis, Courtney Davis and Kyle Kimmell; great-grandchild, James Davis; and other extended family.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, John D. and Thaliah Files; sister, Marie Files Ross; son, Johnny Kimmell and wife Kristy; and grandson, Cory Kimmell.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 6, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother Danny Thiebaud officiating. Graveside services followed in Victor Cemetery.
