Margie Franklin Chupp, age 90, of De Leon, passed away on December 25, 2018, at De Leon Nursing Home. She was born on September 24, 1928, in Comanche County, Texas, to James Leslie and Audrey Mae Franklin. On August 15, 1948, she was married to Johnnie Sample Chupp in Comanche, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2008.
She is survived by her son, Dwayne Chupp and Ann Burgess; daughter, Shirlee Manly and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Seth Manly, Keith Ward, Cissy Ward and Kayla Hatch; great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Margie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Shenna Chupp; brothers, James Leslie Franklin and Thomas Franklin; and sisters, Joyce Hodges and Rosalie McDaniel.
Margie lived in the De Leon community since 1948 when she married Johnnie. She was a long-time devoted member of De Leon First United Methodist Church. She loved her church and her church family dearly. Margie enjoyed many hobbies including reading, cooking and going out for walks. She worked on their family farm right alongside Johnnie and was a loving homemaker for her family. Margie was a selfless wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services celebrating Margie's life will be held Friday, December 28, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at De Leon First United Methodist Church with Pastor John Woodard and Brother Kenneth Wilson officiating. Margie will be laid to rest beside her husband in De Leon Cemetery. The Chupp family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to De Leon FUMC or to the De Leon Senior Citizen Center (for homebound meal support) in honor of Margie.
