Maria M. Vasquez, 79, of De Leon, gently passed from this life May 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 27, 1943, in Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Jose Antonio Garcia and Elisa M. Garcia. Maria married Aniceto (Cheto) Vasquez in 1965. They had a loving marriage and raised five daughters. Cheto preceded her in death on November 13, 2009.

Maria was a woman of strong faith. She was a loving and devoted homemaker for her family. She was a wonderful cook and was always her happiest while preparing meals for her large family. Maria loved to spend time outdoors planting flowers and gardening. Her grandchildren meant everything to her. She attended as many ball games and activities as possible to support each of them. She was selfless in all she did, always putting her family before herself. Her joyful and kind soul will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her five daughters, Bertha Moreno and husband, Pete, Maria Vasquez Vara and husband, Howard Vara, Gloria Vasquez and husband, Lupe Lopez; Olga Vasquez De Garcia and husband, Abraham, and Diana Vasquez and husband, Marc Paredes; grandchildren, Adam Moreno and wife, Emily, Adriana Tokunboh and husband, Victor, Elisa Moreno, Eric Moreno, Amanda Vasquez, Guadalupe Lopez, Jr., Aniceto Joel Vasquez, Samantha Garcia, Abraham Garcia, Jr., and Caleb Paredes; great-grandchildren, Gloria Barron, Freddy Barron, Demarco Lopez, Jamell Blyth, Victor Lopez, Guadalupe Lopez, Jr., and Lillyana Tokunboh; brothers, Lupe Garcia, Alfonzo Garcia, Ruben Garcia, Javier Garcia, and Antonio Garcia; sisters, Coca Bill, Linda Herbert, Carmen Garcia, and Dora Guevara; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Funeral services celebrating Maria's life were held Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery.
