Marinell Skaggs, 83, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 12, 2019. She was born September 20, 1935, in De Leon, to James Rufus Otwell and Mattie Lillian Nabors Otwell. Marinell married Robert Stanley Skaggs July 25, 1952.

Marinell was a long-time member of De Leon First Baptist Church and was very active in Women on Mission. She was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Marinell lived most all of her life in De Leon, and was a devoted and loving homemaker for her family. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing. Marinell loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, James R. Skaggs, and Robert Paul Skaggs and wife, Diana; grandchildren, Robert Michael Skaggs, Stephen Wayne Skaggs, James Jarrett Skaggs, Mark Timothy Skaggs and Shelley Dyan Skaggs; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and other extended family.

Marinell was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stanley Skaggs; parents, James and Mattie Otwell; and brothers, Willie Wayne Otwell, James McCoy Otwell, Nathan Troy Otwell, and Edward Haynes Otwell.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 15, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Michael Hale officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery.
