Mary "Patti"
Patricia Pleau
Oct 1, 1936 — Aug 23, 2020
Mary "Patti" Pleau, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away at her daughter and son-in-law's farm in De Leon, Texas, on August 23, 2020. She joins her beloved husband of 48 years, Medric "Skip" Pleau, in heaven. Her legacy lives on in her son Cliff Pleau, his children Ian and Nicole Pleau, her daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Chris Hare, their son Dodge Hare, her brother Tom Moore, her sister Beth Moore, and her faithful yellow lab "Tootsie".
Her passing, while sad, is a cherished celebration of a life lived to the fullest. Her cancer was sudden and quickly brought her to her heavenly home. By the grace of God, her departure was quiet and with her family by her side, just the way she wanted it.
Patti was the oldest daughter of the three children, born to Lester Moore and Clara Moore. Patti came into this world on October 1, 1936 in St. Louis. Upon graduating from high school, Patti entered the convent in the Catskill Mountains of New York. After several years, she decided that being a nun was not her calling. She returned to the family home in Franklin, MA, and that is where she met and married Skip, the love of her life, and embraced him in a life together forever. They shared many wonderful exciting years growing a family and living in the Midwest, East Coast, on Cape Cod and in Oregon. Patti had an amazing gift with disabled individuals, and always found a way to employ and teach them in their small business adventures.
Patti and Skip always enjoyed celebrating with family and friends and cooking tasty meals. In addition to supporting Skip's grilling, Patti was known for a few classic side dishes of her own, such as Canadian meat pie, chili, shrimp dip, and most memorably, "gramma's mashed" potatoes. She was a consummate reader of novels, and enjoyed hobbies of sewing and crossword puzzles. Patti had a special love for the crescent moon, owls of all types, wildflowers, and her guardian angels. Recently, she enjoyed a calm life on the farm and attended fitness classes with "Silver Sneakers".
Caring and beautiful inside and out, Patti's 83 years were filled with compassion and wisdom. She showed love, and warmth to everyone she knew. She was also strong and independent, and had a witty sense of humor. Patti will be deeply missed by her family and friends, and all who knew her.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care and help given to Patti by Solaris Hospice and their circle of nurses and aids in the DeLeon, TX area. The people that helped care for Patti in her last days, were truly angels sent just for her, and the family is forever grateful to each and every one of them.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a charitable organization of your choice, in memory of Patti.
