Obituary

Mary Lou Weaver, 87, of Comanche and formerly of De Leon, passed from this life April 8, 2026, in Brownwood, with her family by her side. She was born December 11, 1938, in Gorman, Texas to Thomas Johnson and Clara Jenkins Johnson. Mary Lou married her loving husband of 68 years, James Weaver, on August 8, 1955.

Mary Lou was raised in De Leon and graduated from De Leon High School. After James and Mary married, they moved to Ft. Worth where James was employed with General Dynamics and Bell Helicopter. James and Mary returned home to De Leon to be near family and to help out with the family farm. They eventually moved to Lake Granbury where Mary Lou was the receptionist for Granbury First United Methodist Church, a position of service she dearly loved and eventually retired from. They once again returned home to De Leon to live on the farm and then eventually made one last move to Comanche to reside near their only daughter, Christy. Mary Lou was a long-time member of Duster Baptist Church and later attended St. Joe Baptist Church when they returned to De Leon.

She loved their retirement years and the time she was able to garden and tend to her beautiful flower beds. She was extremely talented at sewing and once owned a fabric store, Mary's Fabric. She and James always enjoyed traveling. Mary Lou loved to spend time with her granddaughter, Alex,  and they loved to shop together. She was always a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who worked tirelessly to make sure her family had the best life possible. She was a special friend to many and will be missed beyond measure.

Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Christy Leigh Chester and husband, Jimmy Don Chester; granddaughter, Alex Peyton Chester; and other extended family. She has been reunited with her parents.

Funeral services celebrating Mary's life were held April 13, 2026, at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother Jim Farley officiating. Graveside committal followed in De Leon Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice, in memory of Mary Lou.
