Obituary

M.E. "Ted" Nowlin, 88, of De Leon, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016.

He was born March 24, 1927, in De Leon, Texas, to Doyle Eddie Nowlin and Clara Chupp Nowlin. Ted married Mozelle Vinson December 2, 1953, in Ft. Worth.

De Leon was Ted's home his entire life, other than the years he served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Medic on an aircraft carrier. He and Mozelle were long time members of St. Joe Baptist Church where Ted faithfully taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon. He loved St. Joe Baptist Church and the opportunity it provided him to serve the Lord. He was a life-long farmer and enjoyed spending time outdoors.

He loved to read and work crossword puzzles. He was a dedicated Texas Rangers baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed watching De Leon Bearcat sports. After the passing of his wife Mozelle, Ted volunteered for local hospice services. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Ted is survived by his son, Terry Nowlin and wife, Liesa; daughter, Sherry Sharp and companion, Ronnie Barker; grandsons, Clint Rogers, Daniel Sharp and wife, Becca, Matt Nowlin and Kaleb Nowlin; brother, Donald A. Nowlin and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Maedell Vinson; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.

He was preceded by his wife, Mozelle Nowlin; parents, Doyle and Clara Nowlin; brother, T.A. "Cap" Nowlin and wife, Carole; an infant brother; sister-in-law, Marie Simmons and husband, Maurice; and brothers-in-law, James Vinson and Elden Vinson.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 8, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joe Baptist Church with Brother Donnie Auvenshine and Brother Jackie Auvenshine officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions be made to St. Joe Baptist Church at PO Box 201, De Leon, the De Leon Library at 105 E. Reynosa Street, De Leon, or to a charity of your choice, in memory of Ted.
