Obituary

Michael Alvin Carlin, 68, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior January 15, 2015, with his family at his side.

He was born July 26, 1946, in Gorman, Texas, to Elmer Alvin Carlin and Lula Arvella Rich Carlin. Mike married Jo Ann Mathis December 18, 1964.

Mike lived in the De Leon community his entire life. He was a faithful member of De Leon First United Methodist Church. He worked as a masonry contractor for over thirty-one years and loved contracting. The past six years, he was employed with Comanche County Precinct 4. Mike was a proud and dedicated Mason of the Armstrong Lodge #445 and the Sipe Springs Lodge #537. He was also active with the Ft. Worth Scottish Rite, 33rd degree, the Ft. Worth Moslah Shrine, the York Rite Chapter, Council, Commandery and the Order of the Eastern Star of De Leon. He was a supporting member of the NRA and TRA. Mike loved being involved in these organizations and life-long brotherhoods. He was faithful in his years of service to each of them.

He was a man of his word; always a loyal and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mike was brave and determined while fighting his long battle with cancer and his faith in the Lord never wavered. He was loved by so many and will missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 51 years, Jo Ann Mathis Carlin; daughter, Carolyn Grindle; granddaughters, Valerie Glasscock and husband, Garrette, and Catherine Grindle; grandson, Jess Grindle and wife, Lasea; great-grandsons, Johnny Glasscock, William Glasscock and Garrison Glasscock; brother, Carroll Carlin; and other extended family. Mike was preceded in death by his son, Michael Alvin Carlin, Jr.; and parents, Elmer and Lula Arvella Rich Carlin.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at De Leon First United Methodist Church with Rev. Judy Richmond officiating. Masonic graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were his Masonic brothers.
