Mildred Hittson Million, 93, of Desdemona, went home to her Lord and Savior January 11, 2014.
She was born December 2, 1920, in Palo Pinto County, to Jack and Lucille McCorkle Hittson. She married Thomas Million August 31, 1944, in Cotulla, Texas.
After high school, Mildred attended John Tarleton College and the University of North Texas. She retired as a veteran teacher of 35 years. She spent most of her teaching career in Strawn, Texas.
She was a past Matron and lifetime member of the De Leon Chapter #693 Order of the Eastern Star, a former member of the Texas State Teachers Association, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and member of the Palo Pinto County Historical Association and Commission where she contributed to the writing of The History of Palo Pinto County, Vol. II.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Strawn and Desdemona where she served as pianist and organist for many years. She loved to worship the Lord through playing music.
Mildred is survived by grandson, Tom Million and wife, Melissa, of Desdemona; great-granddaughter, Hallie Million of De Leon; step-grandson, Vince Huckaba of San Antonio; several nieces and nephews; and a host of faithful friends.
She was preceded by her son, Raymond Craig Million in 1978; husband, Thomas Million in 2002; and brother, Dr. Jack Hittson in 2009.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, January 13, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in Hittson Cemetery, Palo Pinto County. Pastor Michael Orsini officiated the service. The De Leon Chapter #693 Order of the Eastern Star honored Mildred's service with graveside rites.
