Mildred Singleton, 91, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, May 13, 2016.
She was born July 29, 1924, in Rucker, Texas, to Rufus Marcelle Higginbottom and Norma Bunting Higginbottom. Mildred married Deloyn Singleton October 13, 1940.
Mildred lived in De Leon all of her life. She graduated from De Leon High School in 1941. Mildred retired from Farmers and Merchants Bank as a Vice President after thirty-seven faithful years of service. Mildred was a long time member of First Baptist Church of De Leon where she was active with the Women on Mission ministry. She was also a past member of the De Leon ESA Sorority and was very active with the Peach and Melon Festival for several years. Mildred enjoyed many hobbies. She was a wonderful cook and a talented seamstress. Her grandkids were the light of her life and she loved spending time with her family and many dear friends.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Singleton and wife, Linda; grandsons, Ronnie Singleton and Randy Singleton and wife, Kim; great-grandchildren, Jake Singleton, Ryon Singleton, Kelsay Singleton and Will Singleton; brothers, Bascom Higginbottom and wife, Betty, and Harold Gene Higginbottom and wife, Charlotte; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband, Deloyn Singleton; and parents, Marcelle and Norma Higginbottom.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 16, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Jackie Auvenshine officiating. Mildred was laid to rest next to her husband in De Leon Cemetery.
